t the invitation of the African Union (AU), the CCEDU Project Coordinator, Crispy Kaheru was part of the AU observer mission that monitored the November 17th, 2012 presidential elections in Sierra Leon. The forty-member AU observer contingent remained in Sierra Leon between 11th and 24th November made an independent, objective and impartial assessment of the presidential elections and released a report of its findings. Based on its observations and assessment, the mission concluded that the 17th November 2012 General Elections in the Republic of Sierra Leone were conducted in a peaceful and credible manner that accorded the people of Sierra Leone the opportunity to express themselves freely at the polls.
Beyond the observation role, Mr. Kaheru participated in the pre-briefing and debriefing of the AU observer mission. Members of the contingent were drawn from Pan African Parliament, electoral management bodies, and election-based civil society groups from across Africa.
