CCEDU also deployed 37 observers to monitor the Kasese district woman by-election on the 8th August, 2012.
The seat had fallen vacant after court nullified the election of Winnie Kizza over election irregularities.
Winnie Kiiza of the Forum for Restoration of Democracy (FDC) emerged winner by polling 97,669 votes while Rehema Muhindo of National Resistance Movement (NRM) polled 59,946 votes. Democratic Party's Rosemary Masika emerged last with a marginal 1229 votes. The voter turn-out was rated at 53%.
